India lost the first T20 against West Indies at Trinidad. India played a quite inexperienced team that couldn’t manage the pressure in crunch situations and hence lost the match by 4 runs.
West Indies bowlers bowled tight line and length and took picked wickets at quick intervals to stall India’s progress who were cruising at one time thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s patience and Tilak Verma’s counterattack.
Indian Bowlers Bowled Well
The bowlers who consisted of experienced Kuldeep-Chahal and the young guns – Mukesh and Arshdeep bowled pretty well and blocked West Indies’s run flow at the death. The Windies team could only manage 150 in 20 overs with Nicholas Pooran and Captain Powell scoring 41 and 48 respectively, however, the rest of the batsmen could manage to score runs.
Indian Batsman Failed
The total of 150 looked reachable at the half point with the men in blue having some of the best T20 batsmen in the form of Shubhman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Surya Yadav, and Sanju Samson, but just like the bowlers, the batsman couldn’t work as a team and failed to take them home.
Jason Holder is the man of the match for a brilliant spell of 4-1-19-2. The 2nd T20 of the 5-match series will be played in Guyana on August 6, 2023.
