The teaser trailer for Scam 2003 The Telgi Story has been released on YouTube. The web series which is part of the “Scam verse” developed by ace filmmaker Hansal Mehta, is a biopic of scammer Abdul Karim Telgi who did a stamp paper scam worth a whopping 30,000 crores. The web series will be released on SonyLiv which released the highly successful Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story in 2020.

Who was Abdul Karim Telgi? The scammer on which Scam 2003 The Telgi Story is based
Abdul Karim Telgi was a small-time fruit seller who rose to become one of India’s biggest scammers and counterfeiters. He printed counterfeit stamp papers in India and used to distribute them in organizations – Banks, Stock brokerage firms, courts, and revenue offices. Before being the scammer, he used to sell fruits and also worked for 7 years in Saudi Arabia.
He started his work by faking passports, exporting manpower to Saudi Arabia, creating fake documents to facilitate laborers’ smooth passage at the airports, etc. We are sure Hansal Mehta and his team will shed some light on his life in the web series Scam 2003 The Telgi Story trailer.
Telgi’s Love Affair with Bar Dancer
Scam 2003 The Telgi Story trailer also gives a short glimpse of Telgi’s love for bar dancers. There was a time when Telgi was a frequent visitor of bars and he has a special interest in one bar dancer, Tarannum Khan who was very beautiful and use to look like Madhuri Dixit.
Her dance moves use to attract a lot of onlookers and Telgi was not an exception. There was one instance in 2001 when Telgi showered 90 lakh on Tarannum Khan making her the richest bar dancer.
