Donald Trump Indicted for Conspiracy to Overturn 2020 Election

Date:

Former US President Donald Trump is facing indictment on four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the US, tampering with a witness, and conspiracy against the rights of citizens. The charges come as a result of an inquiry into events surrounding the January 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol.

The indictment alleges that Mr. Donald Trump plotted to overturn his 2020 election defeat, focusing on his actions during the two months between his loss to Joe Biden and the violent riot that saw his supporters storming Congress during the certification of the Democrat’s victory.

Donald Trump Denies Wrongdoing

Denying any wrongdoing, the 77-year-old Republican politician, who is running for president again, took to social media to label the case as “ridiculous.”

This is not the first time Donald Trump has faced legal troubles. He has previously been charged in two other cases, one for mishandling classified files and the other for falsifying business records to cover up a hush-money payment to a porn star.

The indictment marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the events surrounding the 2020 election and the storming of the Capitol, further intensifying the legal challenges faced by the former president.
