India won the first ODI against West Indies in Barbados. India is on a tour of the West Indies, after winning the test series 1-0, the men in blue go 1 up in the ODI as well. Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl against West Indies in the first ODI at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.
Mukesh Kumar got to debut while Sanju Samson had to miss to be a part of playing 11 once again. Indian bowlers were right on the money from the word go and made West Indies toil hard to make runs. The Windies team got out for a paltry score of 114 with Shai Hope being the lone fighter scoring 43 out of 45 balls he faced.
India Bowlers Took the Centre Stage
The pick of the bowlers were Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav who shared 7 wickets among themselves. Kuldeep Yadav 4 wickets against 6 runs, while the rest of the fast bowlers – Hardik Pandya, Mukesh Kumar, and Shardul Thakur took one a piece.

During the chase, India too had a shaky start with Shubhman Gill getting out cheaply, however, Ishan Kishan stood at one end and notched up his 50. India’s middle order was too disappointing as Surya Kumar Yadav got out to 19, Hardik Pandya got out to 7, and Rohit who demoted himself down the order took the team home along with Ravindra Jadeja.

India’s next One Day International will be played on July 29 at the same venue.
