Date:

In a rare sight, a Leopard along with a cub entered a Film city set in the posh area of Goregaon in Mumbai. The video captured by onlookers shows a Leopard roaming freely into the Film city set along with what is supposed to be her cub.

The workers on the film city set looked terrified after sighting the stripped wild animal and had to run for cover. Some put on their cameras to record this sight.

As reported by ANI, the president of the All Indian Cine Workers Association, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta said, “More than 200 people were present at the set, someone could have lost life. This has been the third or fourth such instance within the last 10 days. Govt is not taking strong measures towards this.”

Man-Animal Conflict in Film City

It is to be noted that the area around Goregaon and the Aarey Milk Colony is home to a lot of natural species and rich flora and fauna. Leopards are among the many animals that call the colony their home.

The Aarey Milk Colony comes under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park there is the famous Film City is situated there. However, in the recent past illegal construction of film sets has made the shrunken forest and green areas forcing the Leopards to exit their territory in order to find a new home.

The man and animal sightings are a major issue in this part of Mumbai and neither the government nor the forest departments cares for this. If scrutinized, many film sets will be found to be illegal, but the government and its affiliated municipal bodies get their share of the commission and things go like this.

Animals cannot pay commissions so they are left to roam and suffer until one day they are shot dead as they become a threat to the “so-called civilized” society.
