In the Dominica test against West Indies, two left-handers – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan make their debut for India.
Ishan Kishan who has already debuted in T20 and ODI made his test debut after warming the bench for a couple of series, while Jaiswal got to don the Indian Jersey for the first time following his heroics in the IPL 2023.

With Yashasvi Jaiswal in the lineup he will be opening with Rohit Sharma, Shubhman Gill has been given a new spot at no. 3 in place of the left-out Chetershwar Pujara. Virat Kohli and a rejuvenated Ajinkya Rahane cement their places at no.4 and 5 respectively, followed by Ishan Kishan at 6 who replaces KS Bharat as the wicketkeeper batsman.
Jadeja and Ashwin lead the spin departments leaving no place for Axar Patel in playing 11. Shardul Thakur gets rewarded for his batting skills down the line.

Jaydev Unadkat and Mohammad Siraj spearhead India’s fast attack. This team misses the services of Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, and Rishabh Pant who is still recovering after the disastrous accident last winter.
Going by the playing 11, this Indian team sports more of an aggressive approach as the top 6 batsmen are all stroke players and can turn the game on their own at any given time. Out of the top 6, 3 of them have 200s in ODI which shows they can play long innings which is a must in test cricket.
On the other hand, West Indies which got disqualified for the World Cup 2023 for the first time in history, will have a lot to prove.
